Privacy Statement

Why Give to Hospice
A donation to Hospice provides your community with services that are essential and unique to our quality of life.
Hospice Kawartha Lakes has provided palliative care and bereavement support to this community for 20 years. Due to generous donations these services have remained free and accessible. Adequate funding is integral to maintaining the quality of our services. Donate today and you’ll join us in supporting holistic care for the dying and their loved ones.
Our committed volunteers offer care and support in homes, care facilities, hospitals and schools. As well, we strive to promote awareness and understanding of loss and bereavement through community presentations and our resource library.
As the nation’s population grows and ages, as does the need for Hospice care. Statistics Canada reflects this by predicting that in the next generation, 50% of Canadians of working age will care for a dying loved one. Hospice volunteers work with these families and when needed provide respite.
In a technology based society we must remember that care is more than medicine.
We ask that you invest in our philosophy of care.
Where does the money go?
Due to the contributions of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors and the support of the community, our services are provided free of charge. The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care provides 60% of necessary funding. Hospice Kawartha Lakes relies on individuals, businesses, churches and service organizations to provide the remaining 40% of our total budget.
In Memoriam Giving
A donation to Hospice Kawartha Lakes, in memory of a loved one, helps us all ensure that the members of our community receive support and care when they need it most. Your gift will allow us to train and support visiting volunteers, facilitate grief groups, spread the message of our philosophy of care, and most importantly reach out to as many people as possible. Honour a life by enriching another.
Planned or Deferred Giving
A planned gift is a special gift for the future, which provides a source of financial support for Hospice Kawartha Lakes while also providing opportunities for individuals to achieve personal tax benefits. These gifts are arranged in the present, usually within an individual's estate or financial plan, but actualized at a later date. Examples of planned gifts include; bequests, life insurance, securities, charitable gift annuities, and gifts of personal and real property.
Monthly Giving
Monthly Giving is a way of maximizing your contributions. Your regular, monthly gifts made through post dated cheques or credit card provide an anticipated stream of donations allowing us to fund our programs with certainty because we can rely on a regular monthly cash flow.
Endowment Fund
Contributing to Hospice Kawartha Lakes’ Endowment fund helps to ensure the future of Hospice programs. Your donation will provide capital funds that will be preserved while generating a perpetual source of income. Tax receipts are provided for all contributions.
Donations in lieu of gifts
You may choose to honour a special event like a birthday, anniversary or wedding by suggesting their guests make a donation to Hospice Kawartha Lakes in lieu of gifts. We can prepare cards for you to include with invitations and your friends will receive a taxable receipt and acknowledgement of their gift. You will receive notice of all of the gifts we receive.
